Today in Baku Appellate Court, under the chairmanship of the Judge Abdin Abdinbeyov a preparatory for the complaint of “Gundelik Azerbaijan” and “Realniy Azerbaijan” newspapers’s founder and Editor-in-Chief Eynulla Fatullayev, regarding the decision to imprison was conducted.
Isakhan Ashurov, E.Fatullayev’s lawyer, claimed the court to exonerate E.Fatullayev: “If this hearing is sent to the European Court, it will be serious disgrace for Azerbaijan”.
In his response to judge’s “do you want E.Fatullayev to be brought to the hearing” question, the lawyer answered: “the prisoner must be brought to the hearing in any case”: “Though there is not such Article in Azerbaijan’s legislation, we passed European convention in 2002. According to that convention, E.Fatullayev must be brought to the hearing in any case”.
After that, the judge noted that, the case has been taken under the consideration and the hearing was scheduled on December 28 at 10 p.m.
