SARDAR ALIBAYLI’S LAWSUIT AGAINST MINISTRY OF EDUCATION PARTIALLY FULFILLED

Today, 17 June, in the Narmanov District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Rasim Kazimov, a hearing was held on "Nota" Newspaper Editor-in-chief Sardar Alibayli’s lawsuit against Minister of Education Misir Mardanov and Chief of Ministry’s Main Construction Department Allahverdi Damirov. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by Sardar Alibeyli.

According to S.Alibayli, the opposing party did not participate in the hearing, and Judge R.Kazimov issued a decision to partially fulfill the lawsuit. He said there was inactivity on the part of a high-ranking official illegal and issued a decision that the ministry must respond to the information inquiry.
This lawsuit stems from an information request sent by “Nota” Newspaper to the Education Ministry in connection with an article the newspaper published. The request was not answered by the ministry. Therefore S. Alibayli appealed to court to consider the inactivity of high-ranking official unfounded and demanded that the defendants pay 100 AZN in fines.
