Employees of the Department for Preliminary Investigation of Tax Crimes of the Ministry of Taxes have launched an inspection at the Turan information agency. They are seizing documents and examining personal items of the staff. Filming the process is not allowed.
The tax officers have not given the agency a copy of the document sanctioning the inspection and seizure, but only showed a copy of the document.
The inspection is underway.
The criminal case against Turan was launched on 7 August.
Tax officers have stated that the agency has evaded taxes in the amount of 37,000 AZN in 2014-2016.
Turan categorically denies this statement and considers the criminal case illegal and politically motivated. Turan has sued the Department for Preliminary Investigation of Tax Crimes and the initiator of the criminal case, the Local Revenues Department.
