According to Hasanov, the court decided not to fulfill the appeal. Hasanov claims that his judgment was prepared even ahead of the hearing. He says they will take the issue to the European Court of Human Rights.
BACKGROUND
Hajiyev, former parliamentary candidate in 7 November 2010 elections, was detained on 17 November, 2010, on the Gazakh region’s Girmizi Korpu checkpoint, as he tried to cross to Georgia to continue his education. At the time, Hajiyev was set free a day later as he had immunity as a parliamentarian candidate yet. At present, he is facing criminal charge under Article 321 of Criminal Code (evading military service). However, it is widely thought that Hajiyev was arrested for his activity on social networks and his support of 11 March Great People’s Day campaign.
