YOUTH ACTIVIST JAILED FOR INVOLVEMENT IN APRIL 2ND PROTEST EXPELLED FROM UNIVERSITY

Member of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) and youth activist Elnur Majidli has been expelled from Western University, where he was a student, the university lawyer Miralam Aga told IRFS today (October 13).

The lawyer said that the reason for Majidli’s expulsion is his poor attendance record and failure to pay tuition fees. “The decree on the expulsion of Elnur Majidli, a 4th-year student at in the international political relations faculty, was issued on June 30th, 2011,” said the lawyer.
APFP member Elnur Majidli, arrested for his involvement in the Public Chamber opposition coalition’s April 2nd protest, was 4th year student at the faculty of International Political Relations, at Western University when he was charged under Article 233 of the Criminal Code: violating social order. Nasimi District Court sentenced him to 2 years in jail on October 10th, 2011.
