Today, 8 September, “Yukselish Namine” Newspaper’s Editor-in-chief Elchin Mammad filed a lawsuit against the Presidential State Fund to Assist Mass Media Development. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by Elchin Mammad.
The lawsuit stems from the failure to finance the project that he submitted to the State Fund to Assist Mass Media Development, according to E.Mammad.
“Our project ‘Strengthening of Women’s Rights in Local Regional Press and Supporting of the Process to Increase Right Knowledge of Teenage Girls’ met the requirements of the contest terms, and therefore the failure not to finance it is unfounded,” said E.Mammad adding that the lawsuit was filed in the Local Economy Court #1. In the lawsuit he asked the court to consider the activity of high-ranking official unfounded and demand that the State Fund to Assist Mass Media Development finance the project that “Yukselish namine” newspaper submitted.
On 1 September the State Fund to Assist Mass Media Development unveiled the results of its first contest. 55 projects won in the contest; 30 (thirty) newspapers, 13 (thirteen) information agencies, 6 (six) journalist organizations and 6 (six) other related organizations
