Today the working group within the Freedom of Speech Defense Committee conducted a meeting.
During the meeting a decision was adopted to to appeal to the court about Vusal Hasanov's inapproriate actions during "Azadlig" Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ganimat Zahid's trial, and to also appeal to international organizations about Zahid's court trial.
In addition to this, the committee als discussed the PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteur for Azerbaijan Yevegeniya Jivkova's interview to BBC in which she said she will not call on Azerbaijan's government to release the imprisoned journalists. While the committe put forth several ideas, a concrete decision about what to do about this.
