With financial support from the U.S. State Department, through IREX, within the framework of the “Media Defense Fund” project, a hotline (055 816 40 04) will be open during 24 hours a day in Azerbaijan (IRFS and “Media Rights Institute) to receive appeals in connection with the media and investigate them operatively.
On the basis of calls received via the hotline, IRFS employees will conduct an investigations and will refer cases demanding legal assistance to the “Media Rights Institute”.
According to “Media Rights Institute” Director Rashid Hajili, his organization will provide legal assistance to 45 mass media outlets and employees sued for defamation (electronic and print), mass media outlets and representatives who will appeal to court for relevant media problems and mass media outlets and representatives who face any kind of pressure.
