As of 17 September, “525-gazeti” Newspaper Chief Editor Rashad Majid will ceasing his work with the newspaper in order to act a lawyer for Ilham Aliyev, the incumbent president and canidate of the ruling Yeni Azerbayjan Party (YAP) for October 2008 elections.
Majid told this “Yeni Musavat” Newspaper in an interview. According to Majid, he did not seek this position, however YAP officials offered him the job 15-20 days ago. He has been included in Aliyev’s campaign staff, not a the chief editor of “525-gazeti” Newspaper, but rather as secretary of Azerbaijan’s Writers’ Union.
