Yesterday Azadlig reporter Ramin Deko was assaulted by two unknown persons while we was walking to his home, near the Academy of National Sciences.
Deko reported that he had managed to escape his attackers, although he was injured as a result.
“ They warned me to stay away from future protests, and to stop trying to be clever,”
Deko added that, the day before this incident, plain clothed unknown persons had taken him out for a long drive to the suburbs. They told him that it would better for him if he worked for one of the pro-governement newspapers, rather than the opposition paper Azadlig, which means freedom in Azeri.
Several days before this, a fellow “Azadlig” newspaper writer Seymur Haziyev was the victim of a similar assault.
