Elchin Sadigov, the lawyer told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that, a complaint filed to the European Court due to court decision regarding Chief Department Against Drugs of the Ministry of Interior chairman Hazi Aslanov’s lawsuit against “Khazri” Newspaper founder Zardusht Alizade and “Azadlig” Newspaper.
The lawyer noted that, the complaint was prepared by Media Rights Institute and on December 18 sent to Strasbourg.
Recall that, on August 9 the Sabail District Court adopted a decision on fining 5000 AZN separately Zardusht Alizade and “Azadlig” Newspaper. Hazi Aslanov’s lawsuit stems from the article “Dirty Game Prepared Against Mirza Sakit” which was run in the 29 June 2006 in “Azadlig” Newspaper by Zardusht Alizade.
The Appellate Court changed that decision and decreased the total amount 2000 AZN. Gunash Khudaverdiyeva, the Judge of the Supreme Court didn’t fulfill the complaint filed on the Appellate Court’s this decision.
