APPEAL MADE TO MEHRIBAN ALIYEVA IN CONNECTION WITH “IDEAL” NEWSPAPER AND NEWSPAPER’S FOUNDER

Today, 28 November, in the Press Center of the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety, Sabira Mahmudova (Garabaghin Hajari) conducted a press conference on “Ideal” Newspaper founder Nazim Guliyev.

Mahmudova, claiming that the newspaper has continuously insulted Azerbaijani women, stated that she and Azeri-Turk Woman Union Chairman Tanzila Rustamkhanli appealed to court and have already achieved the arrest of Ali Hasanov, “Ideal” Newspaper’s editor-in-chief.

“Ali Hasanov is a sacrifice for Nazim Guliyev,” said Mahmudova. This is not the end yet. I have addressed a letter to the first lady Mehriban Aliyeva in connection with this newspaper. I believe, measures will be taken about it,” added Mahmudova, claiming that Guliyev should definitely be imprisoned.  

Recall that on 30 October "Ideal" Newspaper founder Nazim Guliyev was sentenced to pre-trial detention during a hearing in the Nasimi District Court, under the Chairmanship of Judge Emin Mehdiyev, and an arrest warrant was issued for him, however he remains at large.

On 14 November during a hearing conducted in the Nasimi District Court under the chairmanship of Elmar Karimov "Ideal" Newspaper Chief Editor Ali Hasanov was sentenced to six months of pre-trial detention.
