ARRESTED PROTESTERS LOSE APPEALS

Today the Baku Appeals Court heard the appeal against the April 4th Sabail District Court decision on the case of the Musavat Party Central Executive Administration Chairman Arif Hajili. Judge Hasan Ahmadov rejected the appeal, Hajili`s lawyer Asabali Mustafayev told IRFS. 

The Appeals Court also heard another appeal against a Sabail District Court decision from the same day, on the case of Musavat Party Youth Committee Chairman Tural Abbasli. Abbasli’s lawyer Anar Gasimov reported that Judge Sahibkhan Mirzayev had dismissed his client’s appeal.
The Musavat Party Central Executive Administration Chairman Arif Hajili and Musavat Party Youth Committee Chairman Tural Abbasli were arrested during the April 2 protests. They were sentenced to two months of pre-trial detention. The representatives of the political opposition were charged under article 233 of Criminal Code: organizing of actions promoting the infringement of social order or active participation in such actions.
