Azer Ahmadov, noting that the prize has been founded by Germany’s ZEİT-Stiftunq Fund and Norway’s “Freedom of Speech” fund, said that this is evidence that “Azadlig” Newspaper is the most independent newspaper in Eastern Europe and the post Soviet space.
