Today a complaint was sent to the Appellate Court against the decision to imprison “Azadlig” Newspaper Chief Editor Ganimet Zahid. Zahid’s lawyer Elchin Sadigov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that the complaint must be accepted for consideration within 20 days.
Recall that the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Sudaba Mammedova, convicted Zahid of inflicting minor injuries through hooliganism (article 127.2.3 of the Criminal Code) and hooliganism (article 221), and sentenced him to four years of imprisonment.
