CORRESPONDENT NOT ADMITTED INTO PRESS CONFERENCE

Yesterday “Turan” News Agency correspondent Hafiz Babali was not allowed to participate in a press conference conducted by State Committee for State Property Management Chairman Karam Hasanov.

H. Babli told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, “Though I went to the conference as a correspondent, I wasn’t allowed to participate. My name was on the list of participants, but policemen who stood at the door of the state committee informed someone after seeing me and then they didn’t read my name while looking through the list for participants. When I inquired about the reason for this, a man by the name of Afgan approached me and said that this occurred due to a special order from the up top.” According to H. Babali, when he appealed to Committee Deputy Chairman’s asssistant Rustam Shahbazov, the journalist was told that the press service administration gave such order.
