On July 6th the Administrative-Economic Court #2 under judge Khalig Imanov held a hearing on the lawsuit brought by Gilan Gabala Canning Factory LLC against Yeni Musavat newspaper.
It was reported to the IRFS on July 9th by Vagif Huseyn, the lawyer of the newspaper.
The hearing was attended by the defendant’s lawyers Elchin Sadigov and Vagif Huseyn, as well as by the legal representatives of the plaintiff.
According to Huseyn, one of the plaintiff’s representatives informed the judge about the case and said that they filed this suit for the libelous information about the company published in Yeni Musavat newspaper. Later he presented the legal documents of the Canning Factory, and demanded an apology and a retraction by the newspaper, as well as 1000 000 AZN in compensation. In turn, the lawyers of the newspaper asked the court to test Jala juices. Judge Khalig Imanov scheduled the next hearing for July 23rd 12:00pm.
Gilan Gabala Cannig Factory LLC sued Yeni Musavat newspaper for the article “Juice called JALE is Very Dangerous” published in Yeni Musavat newspaper in April of 2009. Gilan believes that this article is damaging to the business reputation of the company.
Yeni Musavat newspaper has been publishing since 1989 and is a daily newspaper.
