EDITORS UNION CONDEMNS “LIDER” TV’S COVERAGE OF STABBING OF A. KHALIL

Yesterday the Editors Union conducted a meeting in the office of the Press Council. During the meeting the March 13 stabbing of "Azadlig" Newspaper correspondent Agil Khalil was discussed

and the Union adopted a statement about this matter. In the statement, "Lider" TV's position, which is that some journalists are unprofessional and Agil Khalil has only himself to blame for this attack, is condemned.
Democratic Journalists League Chairman Yadigar Mammedli told Mediaforum website, "The editors are also against the politicization of this incident. We suggest that this matter be looked at from two perspectives. First of all Agil sustained injuries, and his health must always be the focus of attention. Second, the editors suggested that this matter be investigated properly – not as part of a political sideshow. The people who ordered this attack and who inflicted injuries on the journalist need to be found and punished."
