Yesterday (January 20) the parents of imprisoned “Gundalik Azerbaijan” and “Realniy Azerbaijan” Newspapers’ founder and Editor-in-Chief Eynulla Fatullayev visited their son in Bayil Prison.
This is the first prison visit the Fatullayev’s have had with their son since the Editor-in-Chief was accused of threatening terror in July 2007.
Eynulla Fatullayev’s father Emin Fatullayev told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, “My son’s health is very good. He is very satisfied with the prison conditions and prison administrators’ attitude to him. I am grateful to Bayil Prison #1 chairman Misir Aliyev for arranging this meeting.”
Recall that, on January 18 the Editor-in-Chief was transferred from the Ministry of National Security’s pre-trial isolator to Bayil Prison #1, something Fatullayev’s family and lawyers had been demanding for months. While Fatullayev was in the National Security Ministry, since last summer, his parents were not allowed to visit him.
