Today, 1 April, at 2:30, Media Rights Institute lawyer Elchin Sadigov was invited to the National Security Ministry.
E.Sadigov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that he was asked to make a statement regarding the statements of imprisoned Editor-in-chief of Gundalik Azerbaijan and Realniy Azerbaijan Newspapers Eynulla Fatullayev.
“I told NSM Investigation Department Investigator Faig Hajili that lawyers cannot be interrogated for their professional work,” said Sadigov. “Therefore I refused to make a statement.” Sadigov was held in the NSM for 30-40 minutes.
Two weeks ago several media representatives were summoned to the NSM regarding E.Fatullayev’s statements concerning the murder of Monitor Journal Editor-in-chief Elmar Huseynov.
Law Education Society Head Intigam Aliyev told IRFS that summoning the lawyer to the NSM for his professional work is unacceptable and is a step taken to frighten the society.
