Freedom of press conference in washington

A conference dedicated to World Press Freedom Day was held in Washington from May 1 to 3rd, 2011. The event was organized by UNESCO and the US State Department, reports Voice of America radio.

The conference discussed the increased role of social media, mobile phones and internet in the coverage of recent revolutions. The suspension of internet in some countries, citizen journalism, the use of mobile phones as multimedia tool in Arab world was also discussed.
Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade, internationally known as the Donkey Bloggers, joined the event via Skype. IRFS Director Emin Huseynov also attended the 3-day event.
