“Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid doesn’t intend to participate in the Appellate Court hearing on his appeal against the lower court’s decision to imprison him.
He came to this decision because he believes that without political will the judge won’t adopt a fair decision. Zahid’s lawyer Osman Kazimov told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety. According to the lawyer, he met with Zahid yesterday (April 29). The editor-in-chief didn’t complain about prison conditions, and his health is normal.
"The editor-in-chief expressed his position about the film ‘Iflas’ (Bankruptcy), which was broadcast on ‘Lider TV. He assesses it as disrespect to the Azeri people,” said Kazimov.
