Yesterday, 16 November, Ayanda Mursaliyeva visited her husband, imprisoned Azadlig Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ganimat Zahid in Prison #17.
The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by A. Mursaliyeva.
She said that although his prison condition is normal, he does have some health problems, and he suffers from rheumatism.
According to A.Mursaliyeva, Ganimat Zahid expressed his opinion on the arrest of bloggers Emin Milli (Abdullayev) and Adnan Hajizade.
“Ganimat said that it was evident that the court would issue such a verdict. He wants the bloggers to come to prison#17,” said Mursaliyeva.
Ganimat Zahid was convicted under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code and imprisoned for four years.
