Yesterday (21 July) imprisoned “Azadlig” Newspaper editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid’s family visited Zahid in Prison #17.
Zahid’s wife Ayanda Mursaliyeva told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that Ganimat doesn’t have any complaints about conditions of the prison or the attitude of prison employees towards him. “He complained a little about his rheumatism,” she added.
G.Zahidov also expressed his opinion about the reaction of the Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary System to his suggestion on organizing courses in the prisons to teach Azeri Latin alphabet there. “Ganimat said that the only prisons to have this kind of courses or schools are prisons for minors. There no schools or courses in the prison #17,” said Ayanda Mursaliyeva.
