Yesterday, 4 January, Ayanda Mursaliyeva visited her husband, imprisoned Azadlig Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ganimat Zahid who is being treated in the Penitentiary Service’s Treatment Facility.
The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by A. Mursaliyeva.
“Ganimat Zahid began treatment for his teeth,” said Mursaliyeva. “Ganimat Zahid said that he gave blood test in connection with his chest pain and rheumatism, but the result is not known yet.”
Mursaliyeva added that G.Zahid considers that the new charge of possession of drugs against Eynulla Fatullayev is unfounded.
Ganimat Zahid, who has been recognized as prisoner of conscience, was convicted under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code and imprisoned for four years.
