Today, 5 March, in the Baku Economic Court #1, under the chairmanship of Judge Tahira Asadova, a hearing was scheduled to take place on the lawsuit of Gundalik Baki newspaper against Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov.
The Institute for Reporters` Freedom and Safety was told this by Gundalik Baki newspaper editor-in-chief Habil Valiyev.
According to Habil Valiyev, Judge T.Asadova scheduled the next hearing on this case for 15 March at 3:00 p.m., because T.Asadova was not able to participate in the hearing.
On 30 December, 2009 the Press Council issued a decision to include Gundalik Baki newspaper on list of “racketeering press”. The newspaper leadership filed a lawsuit seeking to publish a refutation regarding the decision and to pay 100.000 AZN in fines.
