Today, 29 October, in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Svetlana Ahmadova, a hearing was held on the lawsuit put forth by the Head of the Caucasus Muslims Department Sheykul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade against "Gundalik Baki" newspaper for defense of honor and dignity. The Institute for Reporters` Freedom and Safety was told this by “Gundalik Bakı” newspaper editor-in-chief Habil Valiyev.
The plaintiff`s lawyer Mukhtar Mustafayev and the defendant’s lawyer Zaur Ibadov participated in the hearing.
According to Habil Valiyev, the plaintiff’s lawyer Mukhtar Mustafayev said that the plaintiff’s honor and dignity were offended in the article which was published in “Gundalik Bakı” newspaper, and he demanded that the newspaper publish a refutation. The defendant’s lawyer Zaur Ibadov told the court that the demand is unfounded.
The judge scheduled the hearing on this case for 30 October, at 6:00 p.m. to announce the decision.
