Tezadlar newspaper editor-in-chief Asif Merizli, his lawyer Alirza Habilov, and defense representative Shamsaddin Aliyev took part in the hearing.
According to the motion filed during last hearing, defense representative Shamsaddin Aliyev submitted the copy of the registration book on complaint letters. The plaintiff’s lawyer A.Habilov said that they did not agree to this and filed a motion again claiming that not the copy, but the book itself should be submitted to court. The judge issued a decision not to fulfill the motion. He said that the copy is enough.
Then, A.Habilov filed a motion to replace plaintiff A.Merzili with Tezadlar newspaper because Press Council Chairman A.Amashov called the newspaper racketeering, but not the editor-in-chief.
Judge I.Shirinov accepted the motion and scheduled the next hearing on this case for 29 March, at 3:30 p.m.
On September 16, 2009, PC included Tezadlar newspaper on the list of “racketeering” publications after an article regarding the opening of Turkey-Azerbaijan borders was published in the newspaper on 29 August, 2009. The newspaper’s editor-in-chief A.Merizli considered it unfounded and appealed to court.
