PACE Monitoring Committee Co-rapportuer on Azerbaijan Andreas Herkel told BBC radio’s Azerbaijan service that the issue of political prisoners, particularly imprisoned journalists, persists in Azerbaijan.
“Since our last trip there have been no developments,” said Herkel. “A total of two people have been released, but these people are not journalists. I hope that the issue of the imprisoned journalists will be resolved by June.”
