Today, 29 January, Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety Nakhchivan Autonmous Republic correspondent Elman Abbasov was threatened via mobile telephone at approximately 18:55.
The call came from telephone number 055-257-0807. According to Abbasov, a man who identified himself as Malik Aliyev and said he was an invalid threatened Abbasov and his IRFS colleague Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev. “This person said, ‘I will blow up your office,” said Abbasov. “’You are dishonorable just like Ismayil. Who gave you permission to come to Sadarek.’”
Abbasov noted that Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Turan News Agency Nakhchivan correspondent Malahet Nasibova and also threatened her.
