On December 26th, youth activist Jabbar Savalanli was released under a pardon decree issued by the President Ilham Aliyev.
To note, Jabbar Savalanli was arrested in February 2011 and charged with the possession of illegal drugs. On May 4th, Sumgayit City Court sentenced him to 2.6 years in jail. On July 26th, the Sumgayit Appeal Court and on November 29th, the Azerbaijan Supreme Court, upheld this decision.
