JOURNALIST’S LAWSUIT AGAINST INTERIOR MINISTRY POSTPONED

Today, April 22nd, the Baku City with Administrative Economic Court postponed the hearing on journalist Yafiz Hasanov’s lawsuit against the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The journalist’s attorney, Elchin Sadigov, told IRFS that the reason for postponement was the fact that the journalist has not been familiarized the case materials. The judge postponed the case to allow the plaintiff side to become familiar with the case materials.

BACKGROUND

The journalist reported that he has been facing pressures after the last parliamentary elections. He has been followed by an automobile with an unidentified plate number, and faced repeated threats of beating. The journalist officially appealed to the Interior Ministry for investigation of the issue. Failing to receive a response from the Interior Ministry, the journalist went to court.
