LANKARAN CITY COURT RETURNS STUDENT’S LAWSUIT

The lawsuit of Parviz Azimov (to consider the decision to expel him from Lankaran State University unfounded), who was expelled from Lankaran State University (LSU), was returned back by the Lankaran City Court. The Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety was told this by Parviz Azimov.

“The Lankaran City Court returned my lawsuit to my lawyer Khalid Agaliyev (Media Rights Institute Employee),” said Azimov. “The reason of this is shown that I submitted the copy of Elmir Rustamov’s (whom I allegedly beat) statement to the court, not the statement itself. Tomorrow the documents, along with the real copy of Elmir’s statement, will be sent to the court.”
P.Azimov noted that he addressed an open letter to President Ilham Aliyev. However, he has not received any response to his letter addressed to the Education Ministry on 1 May.
LSU claims that Parviz Azimov violated internal discipline rules to expel him (Beating of his fellow student); however Azimov alleges that he was expelled because of his article “Open Bazaar in Closed Rooms,” which was published in “Janub Khabarlari” newspaper on 10 February 2009.
