The manuscripts of the book the imprisoned “Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid (Zahidov) was writing while he was being held in Bayil Prison #1 still have not been returned to Zahid.
Ganimat’s wife Ayanda Mursaliyeva told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
“Ganimat will appeal to the Head of Bayil Prison Misir Aliyev to return the manuscripts. If the manuscripts are not returned, we’ll appeal to court,” said Mursaliyeva. She added that Zahid’s defense lawyer Rashid Hajili is preparing the relevant documents about this case to file a lawsuit.
Recall that Bayil Prison Head Misir Aliyev took the book from Zahid to allegedly read it. The book is about the modern history of Azerbaijan. Later he refused to return the manuscripts, claiming that the book contains writings against Heydar and Ilham Aliyev. M. Aliyev also said that he gave the manuscripts to the Chief Department of Court Decisions Services of the Justice Ministry.
