Yesterday, 7 October, imprisoned “Bizim Yol” Newspaper correspondent Mushfig Huseynov’s wife Arzu Huseynova visited the Red Cross Humanitarian organization.
A.Huseynova told the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety, “We conveyed Mushfig’s complaints to the representatives of the organization. Mushfig has been suffering from tuberculosis. Therefore, he was transferred to the Justice Ministry Penitentiary Service’s Treatment Facility. However, he did not get any medical assistance there. Mushfig wrote a complaint letter to the Red Cross and Elchin Behbudov, the Chairman of Azerbaijan Committee Against Torture. Mushfig was concerned that his letters did not reach their destinations. During the meeting the Red Cross representatives said they haven’t received the letter yet.”
A. Huseynova informed the Red Cross of the miserable situation reigning in the treatment facility. Huseynov’s family also told them that Mushfig needs to be transferred from Prison #2 to the Treatment Colony #3.
M. Huseynov has two little children. He asks local and international organizations for help in connection with this issue.
