As of 14 March, a new Russian language portal – "vesti.az" (www.vesti.az) has begun operating. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by the portal’s editor-in-chief and his assistant who did not wish to reveal their names. According to them, the site functions independently and is not dependent on any agency.
News is only in Russian and covers Azerbaijan, South Caucasus, Countries of Commonwealth of Independent States, European Union, Neighbor East and Asia.
Vesti.az operates using a “24-hour online” system, according to the editor.
