NEW TV CHANNEL COULD GO ON AIR

According to “Yeni Musavat” Newspaper, a TV staition called “Medeniyyet”(culture) TV will be broadcast on the frequency from which Russian TV Channel RTR was previously broadcast.

Mehriban Alakbarzade will be the head of the new TV channel.

“Some discussions have been held regarding joint operation of the TV channel, which will be broadcast within Turkish states and propagandize the culture of Turkish speaking countries,” Parliamentarian Nizami Jafarov, director of Ataturk Center, told “APA.” “In principle, we can say that such an idea is already being realized. After a broad discussions related to work opportunities, issues regarding themes and language matters have already been determined. No one concretely protests against the operation of this TV channel. This matter will be solidified after the resolution of the financial problem by one of the Turkish states or an international company.”  

While expressing her opinion “Medeniyyat” TV channel in an article published in “Yeni Musavat” Newspaper, Mehriban Alakbarzade told to “Mediaforum” web internet site that, “I have decided not to be involved in TV operation within Azerbaijan under any circumstances.

In an interview to “Turan” News Agency, National Television and Radio Chairman Nushiravan Maharramli said that this matter isn’t on the council’s agenda. Maharramli also mentioned the broadcast of Russian channel RTR, saying “If the Russian side restores the broadcast of Azerbaijan television channel, the broadcast of RTR in the national frequency will be restored”.
