NORWEGIAN DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS VISITS ELMAR HUSEYNOV`S GRAVE

Yesterday, a Norwegian government delegation, including the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide, visited the grave of murdered Editor-in-chief of Monitor Journal Elmar Huseynov.  The group was in Baku to attend an oil and gas conference.

Representatives of local press organizations, recently released journalist and prisoner of conscience Eynulla Fatullayev , Elmar Huseynov`s father Sabir Huseynov and public representatives accompanied the delegation.

Espen Barth Eide said that he supports journalists who are trying to help further Azerbaijan’s European integration. He answered questions from journalists about the restrictions media freedoms in Azerbaijan and the failure of the criminal justice system to apprehend those responsible for the murderer of Elmar Huseynov. Sabir Huseynov expressed his gratitude to Norwegian visitor for visiting his son’s grave.
