Khabarlar.az website disseminated information regarding the opening of new music TV channel in Azerbaijan. According to the information, the MTV channel, which operates in a number of countries of the world, will be broadcasted in Azerbaijan as of September 2010.
MTV channel’s regional manager Mathew Goldstein said in his interview that he visited a number of countries to open the channel, but found out that only Azerbaijan has good condition for this. However, there is no information how “MTV Azerbaijan” TV channel will be broadcasted; via satellite, cable television or national frequency.
The National TV and Radio Council (NTRC) does not have any information about this. The Council’s Deputy Chairman, Togrul Mammadov, told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) that he does not have any information about this, and opening of such TV channel is not planned.
