OPENING OF NEW RADIO AND TV CHANNELS ANTICIPATED IN AZERBAIJAN

In the near future a new radio station will go on the air.

National Radio and Television Council Chairman Mushrivan Maharremli told this to APA. Frequency 103 FM has been allocated from “Khazar” TV channel to operate a radio station.
Maharramli also said, “Talks about equilateral broadcasting between Russia and Azerbaijan are no longer being carried out. To conduct a tender for the frequency from which ‘RTR-Planeta’ was broadcast we have to conduct talks.” The chairman said he does not believe that frequencies that are empty need to be immediately filled with new channels: “We are thinking about opening regional TV channels. Until the next parliamentary elections we will focus on opening regional TV channels.”
The creation of a new nationwide sports channel is also anticipated. Maharramli said, “A lot of work is being done in Azerbaijan in connection with sports. To support this work we would like to open a TV channel related to this. Talks will begin on this matter.”
