Opposition Party Activist Nazim Mahmudov Handed Suspended Sentence

 

The trial of Nazim Mahmudov, an activist from the APFP’s Nakhchivan city Sharur district has been concluded.

 

Nazim Mahmudov was arrested on November 15, 2015, following an argument with a customs officer at Sadarak checkpoint, after the officer demanded a bribe. Mahmudov was charged under article 315.1 (resisting a representative of authority) of the Criminal Code.

 

At the Sharur District Court hearing on February 9, the judge sentenced Nazim Mahmudov to 1.5 years in jail, to be served as a suspended sentence, and so Mahmudov was released from the courtroom.
