Nakhchivan City resident, owner, second degree invalid, 55 years old Mahammad Gurbanov, who was placed in a psychiatric hospital on 11 September 2009, is not allowed to see his relatives. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety Regional Correspondent was told this by Gurbanov’s wife Farida Ismayilova.
According to F.Ismayilova, although they accepted food and cigarette for her husband, his family is not allowed to see relatives.
“They use psychological and moral pressure against my husband,” said Ismayilova. “They want to slander my husband and arrest him for 5-6 years. According to the reports, nine person’s statements have already been received against him in the Sadarak customs department.”
Today, 15 September, IRFS employees visited the psychiatric hospital in Nakhchivan city regarding this issue. The journalists wanted to see the chief doctor of the hospital, but the police on duty at the hospital did not allow them. “The chief doctor is in vacation, said the police. “He does not want to see you. Nobody will answer your questions here. It would be better if you left.”
