Co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee will monitor the investigation into the attack on journalist Ayten Mammadova.
PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteur Stefan Schennach told Turan.
“I am shocked by this news. This will be investigated by us, the rapporteurs. We will soon prepare a new report on Azerbaijan for PACE. This (attack on a journalist) is a high level crime, and we will request information from the government on the investigation. We want to see clear action and steps,” Schennach said.
The state must protect journalists and free press, he added.
“This will give us an idea of the level of democracy in the country,” said Schennach.
