POLICE DETAINED JOURNALIST WHO TOOK PHOTO OF EGYPTIAN EMBASSY

Yeni Musavat correspondent Elmin Badalov was arrested by police while photographing the Egyptian Embassy to Azerbaijan, Badalov told IRFS.

Badalov said that the Egyptian President’s photo was burnt before the Egyptian Embassy to Turkey; actions were held in front of the Egyptian Embassies in different countries, which is why he was thinking something could happen in front of the Egyptian Embassy to Baku, and he just took the photo of the Embassy building when he saw no action there.
“The police detained me and took to the Nasimi District Police Office. They copied my identification and journalist cards. I was told that taking photos of the Embassy is prohibited. They deleted my photos and threatened that I would be punished next time. When I asked which law prohibited it, they did not cite any law,” Badalov said.
