Rovshan Mammadov, a member of the Party of People’s Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA) detained during the opposition protest on November 11, was arrested administratively for 30 days.
It ought to be added that on the evening of November 11, the Interior Ministry announced that Mammadov was detained for breaking the rear window of a police car in a “drunken state”.
However, “when Rovshan Mammadov was detained, the car window had already been broken and there is video evidence of that. He was arrested for 30 days on slanderous charges,” the PPFA reported.
Note that Mammadov was charged under Article 535.1 (disobeying the police) of the Code of Administrative Offenses and on November 12, he was arrested for 30 days.
To protect Mammadov’s rights, a lawyer will be involved, who will appeal against the arrest.
Recall that the action was organized by the Party of People’s Front of Azerbaijan demanding freedom of assembly; the opening of land borders; the release of political prisoners; free reforms and democratic reforms. According to the PPFA, a total of 235 people were detained.
The Interior Ministry stated that only one person was detained, the rest were “removed from the territory.”
