Provocation is being prepared against the imprisoned “Azadlig” Newspaper satiric/journalist Sakit Zahidov.
Zahidov’s wife Rena Zahidova told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety. According to Zahidova, someone, who has been released from Prison #14, told her about the provocation. “Yesterday this person called me at home. He said that it will be difficult for Zahidov if he returns to Prison #14, and provocation is being prepared against him. Either his prison term will be prolonged or he will be killed,” said the person, who wishes to remain anonymous. Rena Zahidova said that she has already appealed to several places to ensure her husband’s security.
“I want to appeal to the National Security Ministry and the Justice Ministry Penitentiary Services through your organization. If something happens to Sakit, they will be to blame,” emphasized R.Zahidova.
