Today, 18 February, in Baku Economic Court #1, under the chairmanship of Judge Tahira Asadova, a hearing was conducted on the joint lawsuit of "Azerbaijanfilm" Film Studio and Professional Cinema Producers Guild against Public TV and Radio broadcasting.
Akber Bagirov, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said he disagreed with the notion expressed in the lawsuit that Public TV filed that “Public did not broadcast ‘Azerbayjanfilm’ films.” He presented to the judge the result of monitoring conducted by “SIAR” Marketing Research Center. Movies from “Azerbayjanfilm” were among those indicated in a list of films shown on Public TV. A. Bagirov also noted that “Azerbayjanfilm” has reduced by approximately 50 percent the debt that is owed by Public TV.
After this, Javid Aliyev spoke on behalf of the defendants and said that Public TV is prepared to sign a contract with “Azerbayjanfilm,” but does not wish to repay its debt.
The judge requested that in the next hearing the plaintiff arrange separate lists of the films from 1956-1964 and 1964-1996 that were shown on Public TV and present them to the court. She scheduled the next hearing on this case for 24 February at 4 p.m.
