REPORTS THAT INTERNATIONAL PRESS CENTER WILL CLOSE CANNOT BE CONFIRMED

“The International Press Center (IPC) will cease operations.”

An article with this title was run in today’s edition of “Azadlig” newspaper. According to the article, the facility could be closed due to financial problems. Lately the number of events conducted in the center has reduced significantly due to rate increases for use of the facility. It is also mentioned in the article that the IPC is a non-profit organization and that is why a restaurant will function in its place.
IPC’s financial manager Ehtiram Karimov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, “The news about the closure of IPC is unfounded. This information is absolutely inaccurate; we are working, and events are held in the press center.”
