RESULTS OF MONITORING OF SEVERAL RADIO STATIONS REVEALED

April 25th, 2008
The National TV and Radio Council (NTRC) adopted a decision to monitor 12 radio stations broadcast within Azerbaijan to determine if they adhere to the law “On Television and Radio Broadcasting.”

Last week monitoring of “Space,” “ANS,” and “Azad Azerbayjan” started, and it has already concluded.  During the monitoring, violations were revealed with regards to advertisements.

“According to the law, one out of every 15 minute block of airtime can be designated for advertisements, however it was observed one out of every 2 or 3 minutes block of airtime was used for this purpose. Naturally this is a violation of the law,” NTRC Chairman Nushirivan Maharremli told APA. “In accordance with the law ‘On Television and Radio Broadcasting,’ we adopted a rule on protecting the rights of minors. Some radio channels are running programs that violate this rule.”
