Rights defender Taleh Khasmammadov moved to prison

On October 18th the chairman of the 'Law and Order-2010' LLC, rights defender and blogger Taleh Khasmammadov was moved from the Investigative Prison #3 to Prison #17, his lawyer Asabali Mustafayev told the IRFS on October 19.



Mustafayev says it is envisaged by the law that a detained person can be transferred to the prison on the day when a relevant court decision takes effect, so the transference is lawful.

Taleh Khasmammadov was arrested on November 12, 2011 being accused of hooliganism against police officers, and charges were launched against him under Article 221.2 and 221.3 (hooliganism). He was later charged with Article 315 (resisting and using physical assault against a government official). Khasmammadov was sentenced to four years in jail
by Kurdemir Regional Court on April 20. His appeal against this decision was rejected on October 9.
